Recipes
Okay, so admittedly yarn and fiber has nothing to do with recipes.  But, mom and I love to cook and bake and I thought it'd be nice to share some of our favorite recipes with anyone who has a hankerin' to do some oven work.  I thought maybe it could be like a recipe share thingy. So, enjoy!! Oh, and I'm not too suave on websites, so there's no way to search for a recipe. Maybe someday I'll get smart enough to figure it out.

                        Apple Cake

2 1/4 c all purpose flour        1 c white sugar
2 1/4 tsp baking soda            1 c brown sugar
1 tsp salt                             3 eggs
2 tsp cinnamon                    2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c butter                          7 apples, cored,
                                           peeled & shredded

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease and flour bundt cake pan.  Cream butter, brown sugar and white sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla.  Beat in dry ingredients then apples (which will look really mushy). Bake for 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. This cake will be very, very heavy and freakishly delicious.  If you want, you can add walnuts or pecans into the batter for that extra yumminess.

           No Bake Chocolate Cookies

(this is a personal favorite of Sara & Jamie's... and don't ask about fat and calories, because I'll lie like a rug about them!)

2 c sugar                          1/2 c milk
1 stick butter                     5 TBSP cocoa
4 TBSP peanut butter         1 1/2 c oats
2 tsp vanilla extract

Combine sugar, milk butter & cocoa in saucepan.  Boil for 2-3 minutes. Stir in peanut butter, oats and vanilla; cool slightly.  Beat until very stiff, then drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper to cool completely.  A tip for those like myself, who needs instant gratification: put the cookies in the freezer for about 10 minutes.  They'll be cooled and ready for the taking!
         Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies

1 c butter                         1 c vegetable oil
1 cup white sugar             1 c powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla                      2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda              4 c flour
1 tsp cream of tartar          1 tsp salt

Thoroughly cream butter, vegetable oil and both sugars.  Add vanilla & eggs; beat well.  Sift dry ingredients; stir and blend.  Roll a teaspoon of dough into a small ball.  Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and press down with a spoon. Bake for 12 minutes.  You may either frost these or sprinkle sugar on the top.  If you sprinkle sugar on the top, do it as soon as they come out of the oven.
     Crockpot Chocolate Pudding Cake

18 1/2 oz pkg chocolate cake mix
3.9 oz pkg instant chocolate pudding mix
2 c (16 oz) sour cream
4 eggs
1 c water
1/2 c canola oil
2 TBSP semisweet chocolate chips

Combine cake mix, pudding mix, sour cream, eggs, water and oil with electric mixer.  Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Pour into greased crockpot.  Cover and cook on low 6-7 hours, or on high 3-4 hours or until inserted toothpick comes out with moist crumbles.  Serve with ice cream, or my favorite, whipped cream.  Oh, and wear elastic waisted pants...you're gonna need 'em.
                   Banana Nut Bread
